ook in het Nederlands…>>.. blog is ook in het Nederlands

These weeks are about copy-past everything into this Wicked Golfers website. During the tour we used three, maybe four websites and a lot off different social media. I decided to bring it all back to this one. A lot of silly work that has to be done. But really nice as I started to realize that what we did in the two months while we were on the road doing the 365 Days of Golf road trip. It was something really special .

During the tour many people were so enthusiastic about what we did, but me myself, I didn’t have this feeling (I already mentioned this before). So it is nice to realize it now, sitting in my academy and taking everything out of arjanvera.nl and even deleting everything from TourTravellers.TV –     Irene and I have decided to stop this latter website, but I don’t want to lose all this nice content. So if you scroll down, you can all read it (again), all posted on the original dates….

Highlights of the 365 Days of Golf were of course:

* the amazing day at ‘de Peelse golf’ with SBS 6 (Dutch TV) and the regional reporters.
* the most beautiful courses of my trip: Montecatini golf in Tuscany and Romeleansens in Sweden.
* the special birthday this year with Tony on one of the oldest clubs of the Netherlands.
* the  driver lesson  with Michael Lins.
* and in a not so fun way, the clutch problems with the campervan.
WHAT  A  GREAT   EXPERIENCE    IT    WAS !

bucket with ice water for the good courseWhat else happened lately…..
Of course I was also nominated for the ice bucket thing. I had the bucket ready and filled it with water. The tripod build up and had the research done, but then this little voice within me said I shouldn’t do it. So I watered the plants in the academy and went on with more important things. I also decided not to waste any more time on it, explaining why. So this is it.

My working life in the academy is getting better and better, mostly because my colleagues start to realize that there is a golf academy in the resort. More and more guests walk in and ask for lessons. Good for the company and good for me, because with every client I learn something new about how to educate this amazing sport. Finally I have also got all the frames with my openings hours hanging on places where it is allowed, so hopefully this will bring some extra clients.

Concerning the golf here on Crete. Even this morning I was informed by one of my clients that on the home page of the Crete-Golf.gr is now mentioned that the golf course will be under renovations till the 15th of September 2015. Again other information than that I was told by my head pro. He keeps on referring to the middle of May next year.

Of course it has all influence on my decision what to do this winter.

Should I Stay Or Should I Go

I have several options and that’s what makes it difficult. I wrote to Michael Lins, who I met during the tour as an instructor on Golfplatz Prenden, which is east of Berlin and he responded not straight away negative to the question if I can come over for a kind of trainee ship. He also has a golf school on Grand Canaria, so that would be really interesting to have a work place over there. I am still waiting for my second interview for the foundation that I already mentioned. Telling everybody here, that I am willing to pick olives. And in between Zell am See , with Crazy Daisy and Gerlos with the ski school cross my mind many times.

I don’t have a glass ball, so I am curious were I am going to be, this winter.

More privately I am building up a new network of people around me. A word which is not commonly used here on Crete and I am even told not to use it all. Old friends have left the island and only come shortly back for a week holiday. So I have to meet new people and  create new contacts. Well, can tell you; it’s working out and one of my most often used sentence in the last couples of weeks is…..
COINCIDENCE DOESN’T EXIST…..

after the days of golf with Peggy in Atrium - Koutouloufari - Kreta

Together with old acquaintance Peggy in the Atrium Bar/Restaurant near the Pigadi Well in Koutouloufari – Crete

The funniest things have already happened to me and I have met some nice people and new places; e.g. the Atrium bar in Koutouloufari, just 20 meters away from the ‘Pigadi’ well.
I had some great nights with old friends a new acquaintances, that I met for the first time 5 years ago 😉

September is a busy month with friends and family which are coming over. With one of them I walked the Samaria Gorge(again). This time as a tourist and while I am writing this my whole body is aching like H…

Good fun, especially because other guides in the gorge were people (you?) and I know for over 18 years.
